1. Senior System and Network Administrator

The Senior System and Network Administrator will be responsible for managing the networked computer systems in a start-up developing high-performance Linux streaming server clusters for interactive TV gaming solutions. The core corporate IT services the candidate will provide include supporting the Windows Active Directory domain server, Exchange email server, file servers, web server, FTP server, DNS server, VPNs, wireless AP, and user desktop computer support (Windows, MacOS, and Linux.) Software engineering team IT support includes supporting the Perforce source code control server, software build servers, FogBugz bug tracking system, Wiki server, and QaTraq test case management systems. The candidate will coordinate with software and hardware vendors to purchase new products and upgrades, and to maintain software licenses. The candidate will interface with the ISP providing the company's Internet access, manage the company's off-site server co-lo facilities, and perform automated backups of the corporate servers and user machines.

In a small company environment, the candidate will have broad IT system and network administration responsibilities and opportunities for growth as the company grows. Having a solid background in supporting demanding users is a must. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the stability, availability, and performance of the company's core computation facilities.

Skills Required:

  • Advanced abilities maintaining Windows and Linux computer systems.
  • Ability to handle a wide variety of software and hardware platforms in a heavily networked environment, from desktops and laptops to blade servers and hand-held mobile devices.
  • Advanced experience managing Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange servers and supporting Outlook email clients.
  • Operational knowledge of Cisco switches and firewalls and maintaining corporate Internet connectivity via ISPs, including VPNs and wireless networking.
  • Experience managing Windows and Linux DNS servers.
  • Experience managing Perforce, FogBugz, QaTraq, Apache2, and Wiki/LAMP servers.
  • Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage a dynamic corporate and engineering network in a start-up environment.
  • Positive, customer-oriented focus for supporting both local and remote team members.

Qualifications required:

  • 6+ years experience managing systems and networks.
  • Solid scripting (Perl, BASH, Python, etc.) capability required.
  • C/C++ programming experience preferred.
  • BS Degree (Computer Science preferred).
